Emily Gantner is originally from the Metro Detroit area and now calls Marquette her home. She is a recent graduate of Northern Michigan University’s Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management Major.
Emily started ice climbing three years ago when she took one of Bill Thompson’s ice climbing through NMU and instantly fell in love. In her senior year of college, Emily did her internship with the Michigan Ice Fest where she became involved with the Pictured Rocks Climbing Academy. She is now the executive director of the club and a mentor to participants. Emily’s taken her love of ice climbing up to Southeastern Alaska where she worked this past summer.
In her free time you’ll find Emily either swimming in Lake Superior, climbing her frozen cliffs in the winter, or drinking coffee with friends.
