Grant grew up in the Metro Detroit area, and at an early age found a love for the outdoors. This love led him to pursuing higher education at Northern Michigan University in the fall of 2017. After a rock climbing class offered at NMU it is safe to say he was hooked. The following semester he took the winter ice climbing class taught by Bill Thompson.
After the years of climbing recreationally he became an employee of Down Wind Sports working alongside many other passionate rock and ice climbers. Grant quickly showed interest in guiding trips with the Michigan Ice guides as well as volunteering for S.H.A.R.P (volunteer high angle rescue). Whenever the U.P. weather is permitting you will find him either climbing some local rock or mountain biking the trails in Marquette.
Grant lives year round in Munising Michigan, so that he will not miss out on any of the fresh ice that our winter gives to us.
