Ice Conditions Report 1-17-21

Heikki Lunta delivered! Today Munising got at least 10 inches of snow and even better COLD WEATHER!!! The park was busy this past weekend with determined ice climbers searching near and far. Sand Point Road is still forming but holding strong, the backcountry is a real adventure proving to be well worth it as thin climbs along the Lovers Leap area were explored. HMR and Bridal Veil Falls also saw some action but with this new snowfall approaches may be longer now.

Our true waterfalls are still trying to recover from forming and the falling in the recent warm weather. Its been a very unique season to say the least as climbs like the Dryer Hose, Amphitheater, Giddy Up and most likely Sweet Mother Moses have yet to see an ascent this season. Maybe this will be the weekend!

Some of the lower volume pillars are coming in nicely as the rebuilt John Miller is now back in action and reporting Swamp Thing is in and Swamp Falls is really close.
