Our R1® Pullover maintains a similar focus, with a high/low interior grid polyester/spandex fabric (Polartec® Power Grid™) that stretches, breathes, moves moisture and insulates—recently redesigned exclusively for Patagonia to be even lighter and more breathable. Its technical fit accommodates light underlayers or works as a stand-alone top, and it squashes down to practically nothing in your pack. Simple cuffs stay comfortable against the wrists; minimalist zippers reduce bulk; and a soft, kissing-welt zipper garage at the chin offers next-to- skin comfort. With a smooth, microfiber face for easy layering, offset shoulder seams for pack-wearing comfort, a zippered left-chest pocket and Polygiene® permanent odor control.
Patagonia R1 Bottoms
Since R1® tops work so well under our climbing jackets, we decided to extend the experience downward. We found that lightweight fleece pants, made from the same comfy, stretchy 6.8-oz 93% polyester (41% recycled)/7% spandex fabric, feel just as good under climbing pants. In fact, the fast-wicking, low-bulk performance of the R1® Pants is the perfect combination whenever rigorous climbing or extended approaches come into play. Two front pockets hold keys and cash. Elastic waist with adjustable drawcord minimizes bulk and keeps the pants securely in place. Fair Trade Certified™ sewn.
