Looking for a challenging trail run this weekend? Come join us for an exciting weekend on the beautiful and rugged trails of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Now in it’s second year, Run the Keweenaw is organized through the Keweenaw Trails Alliance in coordination with the Copper Harbor Trails Club. Great Lakes Endurance, which managed the Keweenaw Trail Running Festival for 10 years, is supporting the transition of the event to the Keweenaw Trails Alliance (KTA). The event has a new name,“Run the Keweenaw,” and has added new elements to further enhance this spectacular weekend. Proceeds from this new event will continue to support non-motorized trail improvements, acquisition and maintenance in the Keweenaw.
Mt. Baldy Summit Run (~6k) – Starting just up the road from Eagle Harbor, participants will climb up to the spectacular summit of Mt. Baldy (also known as Mt. Lookout).
12K Copper Harbor Trails Challenge – Starting and finishing at the Grant Township Park in Copper Harbor, the 12K will bring you to the Keweenaw Mountain Lodge and back via the world class Copper Harbor Trail System.
12K Copper Harbor Trails Non-Competitive Run/Hike – Not all about the racing? You can still participate and support the trails by registering to run or hike the 12 K route.
2K Junior Trail Run – For kids 14 & under, the course will traverse the trails nearest the Copper Harbor Township Park.
25K Keweenaw Trails Run – You haven’t experienced all the Copper Harbor Trail System as of yet, the 25K course will take you to all the highlights with challenging elevation and scenic terrain.
Be sure and stop by the Down Wind Sports booth at registration and say hello to Arni! He will have a full selection of trail running clothing, gear and shoes at special pricing for the event. Good luck racers!
