Raised in Madison, WI, Mary Jane has always loved camping, hiking, and all things outside. Her passion for the outdoors brought her to the U.P. to attend Northern Michigan University, where she studies environmental science. Although Mary Jane had some indoor rock climbing experience from her childhood, she started climbing outside when she joined NMU’s climbing club, and she quickly became obsessed with all things rock and ice. She is now on the student leadership board of South Superior Climbing Club and pursuing her AMGA Single Pitch Instructor certification. Mary Jane enjoys all disciplines of climbing, as well as exploring the U.P. by foot, bike, or skis, and surfing on Lake Superior.
